About the Author
The writer served in the U.S. Marines during the World War II conflict in the Pacific area. He received many citations. After the war, Mel married his friend, Harriet, and was married for 57 years before her death in 2003. They had two sons, Gregory and David, and three grandchildren, Jalen, Kenna, and Amiee. Also, a wonderful niece, Helen, helped in the organization of this book. The years have passed very fast and Mel is now 80 years old. And he has always maintained the Maine Corps motto of Semper Fidelis.
