He has spent his career in academic medicine with a love for patients and clinical research, pioneering work in diagnosis and treatment of the fetus, sonography, and international public health. He was an Associate Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Cornell, and Professor and Chair at the University of Louisville and Georgetown University School of Medicine. It was his two sabbaticals in London that stimulated his interest in the mystery of the Chamberlens' forceps. He is currently the Deputy Editor of Obstetrics \u0026amp; Gynecology and has written more than 160 scientific papers and 21 textbooks.
